It is the mission of the Van Buren County Road Commission to provide a safe and reliable transportation system.
The Van Buren County Road Commission is responsible for a county road network of approximately 1,320 miles, including 70+ bridges, 300+ large culverts or box structures, over 10,000 signs, three traffic signals, and five flashing lights at intersections. The Road Commission employs approximately 46 hard-working men and women to plow, patch, grade, preserve, and maintain the public road right-of-way under its jurisdiction.
The best candidate to serve on a road commission will understand and respect his or her role to represent road commission policy, receive public input and act as an ambassador for the Road Commission in the community.
The Board meets the first Wednesday of the month May-September; and the first Thursday of the month October-April.
There are 5 members on the Board of County Road Commissioners, each with a term of 6 years.
