Summer Taxes

The State Education Tax (SET) and County Allocated millage are collected as summer taxes. These are mailed by July 1 and due by September 14 to avoid penalties. Some cities may have different due dates.

Payments are accepted from July 1 through February 28 at your Township or City Hall.

For properties in villages other than Paw Paw, Lawton, or Mattawan, two bills are due by September 14. The Summer bill goes to your Township Treasurer, and Village Taxes go to your Village Treasurer. In Paw Paw, Lawton, and Mattawan, a single bill is issued, payable to the Township Treasurer.

Villages of Breedsville, Decatur, and Lawrence collect taxes until February 28. Starting September 15, Village of Bloomingdale taxes are payable to the County Treasurer.

Tax Deferment

Summer taxes can be deferred to the winter due date for eligible individuals. This includes seniors, disabled persons, and others who have filed for a Michigan Property Tax Homestead Credit but have not received their check.
