Sheriff Daniel Abbott reports that the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit conducted an investigation into illegal narcotics activities taking place in the 45000 block of Marie Drive in Paw Paw, MI. Detectives received anonymous information that a apartment was involved in the sales of narcotics, possibly methamphetamine. Detectives conducted surveillance on the house and observed a vehicle leave the residence. Detectives were able to make a field contact with the subject at a local bar parking lot. A consent search was conducted on the vehicle and inside of the vehicle was Meth, Heroin, and Xanax. The male subject was lodged at the Van Buren County Jail. Detectives observed another vehicle leave the residence and were able to obtain a stop. The detectives were able to obtain a search of the vehicle and inside located methamphetamine. The 43 year old female was lodged at the Van Buren County Jail. Detectives observed a third vehicle come to the residence and stay a short time and then leave. The vehicle was stopped by Van Buren County Deputies and were assisted by a Van Buren County K9 (Kuno). K9 Kuno detected a secret compartment on the bottom of the truck and detectives were able to locate suspected crystal methamphetamine in the compartment. The 35 year old Male was lodged at the Van Buren County Jail.
Detectives executed a Search Warrant at the apartment in the 45000 block of Marie Drive. Inside of the apartment they located the 36 year old suspect along with his 9 year old daughter and a 34 year old male. A search of the residence was conducted and inside of the residence was a large amount of methamphetamine along with several items for the sale of methamphetamine. Child Protective Services was called to the scene and removed the child. Once this case is complete a report will be sent to the Van Buren County prosecutor for charges on all subjects.
