  • A deputy was doing reports while parked in their cruiser at Armstrong Corners when two vehicles pulled into the nearby gas station. One of the vehicles started driving recklessly in the parking lot. During that time of the night, the business was closed. When the deputy went to contact the driver, they fled at a high rate of speed. A pursuit took place with it ending in a field after the truck got stuck. The driver fled on foot but was located a short time later.  The Kalamazoo resident was lodged for the incident.
  • Our office will be participating in Injury Prevention Day on November 18th from 12:00-3:00. It’s being held at the South Haven Area Emergency Service (SHEAS) building (90 Blue Star Hwy, South Haven).  Our Dive Team, Snowmobile Team, Mounted Division, Reserve Division (They’ll be running the fingerprint machine for kids), and our firearms Instructor will be participating. They will all be giving out information and giving presentations for the event. Numerous other things will be covered that day as well by other offices and people.
  • Uniform Response took a larceny of an aluminum trailer filled with scrap metal and a log splitter from a residence in Almena Township. Deputies were able to obtain video and information from a scrap yard the next day with the suspects involved. After a thorough investigation, they both were charged for the offense. The trailer was recovered, but the suspects would not disclose the location of the log splitter. We are asking anyone with information on the location, please contact our office.
  • Uniform Response took a Malicious Destruction of Property complaint at the Waverly Township Hall. A subject turfed the lawn and done several donuts in the parking lot. With the video, a suspect was developed. Deputies were able to locate the suspect vehicle and suspect. The suspect did confess to the crime.
  • Uniform Response took a Malicious Destruction of Property complaint on Lower Jeptha Lake in Columbia Township. Unknown subjects/subject damaged several things at a residence on the lake while the owners were out of town. During the vandalism, a front-end loader was driven into the lake intentionally. Members of our Dive Team were called out to assist the wrecker in getting it hooked up to get it out of the lake. Anyone with any information involving this investigation is asked to contact our office.
  • There has been a national trend with law enforcement agencies not being able to fill vacancies. It’s a trend not only in Michigan, but nationally. Just so everyone is aware, our office does not have that problem. We are one of the bigger agencies in the area and have ZERO Uniform Response positions to fill. I’ve been able to keep positions on the road filled and getting quality people as well. We do have a few openings in corrections and one in dispatch. With that, the information is on our website if you are interested in one of those positions or know someone who is.
  • Uniform Response assisted the DNR with a subject hunting on a preserve in Geneva Township. The subject did not have a hunting license during the violation and had warrants for his arrest. He was transported and lodged for the warrants. An appearance citation was issued for the conservation violations by the Conservation Officer.
