Sheriff Daniel E Abbott reports that Deputies responded to the Mattawan airfield for a report of a male subject trapped under a bulldozer. After an extensive search of the property Deputies were able to locate the 84-year-old male near a workshop in a wooded area. He was found on his back with his left arm stuck under the track of a bulldozer. The man had been working on the piece of equipment alone when it began moving and pinned him under it. He was able to use his cell phone with his free arm and call for help. Mattawan Fire Department along with Rob’s Towing from Mattawan were able to use their equipment to lift the bulldozer enough to free the man’s arm. He was transported to the hospital in Kalamazoo by VBEMS and was in serious condition.
The victim pinned under the bulldozer, received a broken pinky, several small lacerations and bruising. No serious injuries were reported. Subject was treated at Bronson Methodist Hospital.
