  • Uniform Response to a larceny complaint in Bloomingdale in which a car was jacked up while sitting in the front yard. The suspects took three of the tires and rims off prior to being scared away. The jacked slipped on the vehicle and a neighbor came out afterwards. The suspects ran from the scene and a vehicle was heard leaving from down the road. The vehicle in which the tires and rims were stollen was off a Chrysler 300.
  • Dispatch will be getting an upgrade to the recording system. The funds will be used out of the 911 surcharge for the upgrade which is needed.
  • Uniform Response took an assault compliant involving strangulation.  The female victim was able to flee the scene on foot and run to a neighbor for help. After Deputies investigated the incident, they were able to locate one of the two males involved. He was lodged for Assault by Strangulation. After an intensive search with our Canine Units as well as others, the other subject involved was not located. A report was sent over to the prosecutor's office for review and charges.
  • Uniform Response has handled several larcenies involving scrap metal and miscellaneous items taken from outside residences and barns throughout the county. Cass County recently arrested a subject that was stealing not only in Cass County, but Berrien and Van Buren as well. With that being said, there are others out there doing the same thing. One incident involved a metal shop in the Hartford area being broke into for just that, to steal the metal they use for everyday operations. We also have been seeing an increase in people stopping at vacant properties and in some cases come back to steal items.
  • DEA Take Back Day is approaching quickly. Our office participates in that. The date this year is October 28th. There will be two locations to drop off the unused medications at no cost. The locations will be at the Van Buren County Mental Health Building on Hazen Street in Paw Paw and the other at the Bronson Wellness Center in South Haven. The hours will be from 10am-2pm.  Just reminder that there are several red med boxes throughout the county as well for any unused medication. For all the locations, go to our website.
  • Uniform Response took a UDAA in the Village of Lawrence at the Dollar General. The owner went in the store leaving the car running with the keys in it. The suspect jumped in the car and took off. Pings were done on the car and several Law Enforcement Agencies got involved with it. The vehicle would flee every time Law Enforcement tried to stop it. Law Enforcement Officers from several agencies were able to get it located and stopped on a dead-end road in Kalamazoo County. The driver fled the scene on foot. The incident remains under investigation.
  • Uniform Response took a personal injury crash in which a car hit a Bloomingdale Fire Truck. The car was at fault for the crash and the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Uniform Response took a larceny of a Green Yamaha ATV 400 Big Bear four-wheeler from Hamilton Township. The ATV does have damage to the right front fender.
  • As always, anyone with any information on the above crimes or crimes not listed is asked to call our office at 657-3101. You can give our office information anonymously as well.
