Sheriff Notes July 17 2023

  • In 2022, our office handled 11, 387 calls.   As of the end of June, we are at 5,640 calls.   The month of June was very busy with 1,145 calls taken for just our office.  At times, we’ve seen an uptick of larcenies, barns and storage facilities getting broke in to as well as weekend homes.
  • A reminder that we do property checks if you are leaving town, go to our website.
  • We honored Dispatcher Kelsey VanDerGalien at the 911 Advisory Board Meeting with a life saving award for a call she handled with a subject that had a heart attack.  She talked the wife through CPR until EMS arrived.  Due to her input and guidance, it made a difference in saving the subject’s life.
  • In 2022, our Dispatch Center handled 123,690 calls.  That breaks down to a call every 2.7 minutes. 
  • In 2022, our Narcotic Division had 296 Felony Cases.
  • in 2022, our Corrections Staff booked in just shy of 4,700 people.  As of July 10th, we are already at 2,395.  With our inmate population(we are a 213 bed facility), roughly 40 percent don’t live in our county.
  •  In 2022, we had 3,926 traffic stops
  • We will be sending 3 cadets to the fall police academy which will be funded through a state grant.
  • A reminder to keep everything locked up, and if you see anything suspicious, call our office.  We take several calls a year for unlocked vehicles being gone through, as well as sheds, barns, etc.
