Animal Control

Central Dispatch
Central Dispatch operates around the clock and is responsible for answering over 125,000 phone calls, and dispatching an average of 65,000 calls for service annually. They provide dispatch and emergency communications for 14 fire departments, 13 emergency medical services, and 11 law enforcement agencies across Van Buren County.

Corrections Division
The Van Buren County Jail is an Adult Correctional Facility located in Paw Paw, Michigan with a capacity of 213 inmates. It is governed by the Administrative Rules for Jails by the Michigan Department of Corrections.

Dive Rescue & Recovery Team
The Van Buren County Dive Rescue and Recovery Team is made up of eight rescue divers and four boat handlers. Our divers are highly trained and are equipped with the newest dive rescue gear to ensure the safest and best results for any situation.

Investigative Division
The Investigative Section of the Sheriff’s Office is comprised of the Detective Division, Narcotics Division, Computer Crime Unit, Substance Abuse Abatement Program (reports and arrest tracking only) and the Snowmobile Enforcement Unit.

K-9
The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office has a Canine Unit consisting of four K-9 Deputies each partnered with highly trained dogs.

Marine Division
The Sheriff's Office has a Marine Patrol Division that consists of 16 Marine Patrol Officers. The Marine Patrol Division is responsible for enforcing all watercraft laws within Van Buren County.

Mounted Division
The Van Buren County Mounted Division was formed in 1964. Members joined the Reserve Officers to provide the Van Buren County Sheriff's road patrol with a two man unit on Saturday nights and extra manpower at other times as needed.

Office of Domestic Preparedness
The Van Buren County Office of Domestic Preparedness (ODP), a division of the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office, is responsible for Emergency Management and Homeland Security within Van Buren County.

Reserve Division
The Van Buren County Reserve Association is a group of volunteers whose dedication and hard work have made the group an outstanding organization and a tremendous benefit to the Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of Van Buren County.

Snowmobile Patrol
Van Buren County is home to several snowmobile trails that provide entertainment and pleasure to the citizens. The Sheriff's Office takes pride in patrolling these trails to help educate and enforce laws pertaining to snowmobiles.

SWAT (Special Weapons And Tactics)
SWAT (Special Weapons And Tactics) A designated law enforcement team whose members are recruited, selected, trained, equipped and assigned to resolve critical incidents involving a threat to public safety which would otherwise exceed the capabilities of traditional law enforcement first responders and/or investigative units.

Uniform Response Division
The Uniform Division consists of 28 deputies, including 4 sergeants, who perform normal road patrol duties.

Victim Services Unit
The Van Buren County Victim Services Unit is a trained volunteer group under the direction of the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office, the Michigan Sheriff's Association and the Coordination of Tara Bugg and Heather Barr. Dedicated to helping victims, survivors and their loved ones work through a crisis, they are the helping hands of the police, fire and medical personnel.
